Cornhole for Charity at Bralie’s in Durham

(The Triangle Trend) — As of July 14th, Durham’s Cornhole League has officially started a nine-week season of cornhole tournaments at Bralie’s Bar and Grill. You don’t have to be a member of this cornhole league to participate, but you should have good sportsmanship and a desire to have a good time. A bit of skill in playing cornhole wouldn’t hurt either, but that’s definitely not a requirement. In case you’re unaware, Durham Cornhole is a Cornhole league run by Play NC, a 501(c)3 non-profit that arranges recreational events to support local charities in Durham, North Carolina.

They’re providing eight weeks of league/pool play at Bralie’s Bar & Grill as part of their first-ever charity cornhole season. Players will be convening at Bralie’s on Wednesday nights for $40/season, which rounds out to $5 per game, or $8 per night for individual registrations. Each week will include a separate blind draw event with up to thirty-two participants, culminating in a year-end tournament for the sixteen pairs who qualified during the season.

You can still sign up for individual games or come on out to Bralie’s on Wednesday nights to support the cause. You can look forward to a good time and good eats. Register for Bralie’s Bar & Grill’s weekly Blind-Draw games here. If you score first in a regular season event, you’ll receive a free pitcher of beer and an invitation to the “Winners Tournament” at the conclusion of the season, which includes cash prizes, gift cards, apparel, and more! One/fifth to one/fourth of the money made from all entrance fees will be donated to a local charity.

Here’s what to expect on the night of:

Registration / Arrival begins at 6:30pm. If you signed up to compete, you will be paired with a nightly partner through a Blind Draw, the results of which will be announced at 7:00pm. The cornhole tournament will start at 7:10 pm on the dot, so don’t be late. The tournament doesn’t have a set ending time, so you’ll be able to focus on how you play rather than the time. Once again, if you and your partner come out victorious over your competitors, you’ll score a free pitcher of beer from Bralie’s and an invitation to come back for the season’s final game between all the champs.

If you win, at the end of the season you’ll be able to invite one partner of your choice to compete in the end-of-season tournament. Understandably, your partner can’t be someone who also won a tournament. Aside from the pretty amazing physical rewards, you’ll be battling it out for the prestigious title of Durham Cornhole Champion. Now that’s an accolade worth showing off during the next family cookout. If you show up to multiple cornhole nights at Bralie’s and somehow win more than once, you’ll be free to give your entry away to any player you want.

The Season Schedule is as follows:

Week 1: July 14, 2021

Week 2: July 21, 2021

Week 3: July 28, 2021

Week 4: August 4, 2021

Week 5: August 11, 2021

Week 6: August 18, 2021

Week 7: August 25, 2021

Week 8: September 1, 2021

Week 9 (End-of-Season Tournament): September 8, 2021

What a fun way to close out Summer!

Rewards are great and all, but considering this is cornhole for charity, let’s shine a light on that aspect of this event. Weekly, at least $1 from each entry will be donated to a local charity.

During the final Tournament, each pair will get to choose a charity and battle the others to win an extra $50 for that cause during the event. Regardless of who wins and what charities are chosen, rest assured that approximately 20%-25% of the total funds received will be donated directly to one of Play NC‘s 19 local charity sponsors.
