Cameron Village Regional Library During Phase 3

(The Triangle Trend) — Readers all over North Carolina took a hit when libraries suspended public operations beginning March 17th of 2020. Libraries serve as study spots, safe spaces, book club meetups, and work zones, and who would’ve thought we’d ever be without them?

For Phase 1 and 2 of North Carolina’s COVID-19 response plan, libraries were under lockdown. Books remained untouched on shelves and doors remained shut to the public.

Cameron Village Regional Library, a favorite among Wake County readers for its wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and huge selection of titles, has finally cracked its doors open for limited public access.

However, it’s not quite the same library routine as before.

Contactless Pickup

Cameron Village along with 18 other Wake County libraries, including Cary Regional Library, Wake Forest Community Library, and Wendell Community Library are now offering no contact pickup for library materials through their Books on the Go service.

In addition to their collection of books and audiobooks, the following items can be requested and picked up through this service:

Lucky Day Titles

Book Discussion Titles

Book Club Kits

This service is available Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, 1 – 5 p.m.

How can you use this unique service? Place books (up to 30 items) on reserve using their online catalog. Once you receive an email notification that your item(s) have arrived, your books are available for pickup during Books on the Go hours. Make sure to click the link in your email to schedule an appointment time. You may receive multiple emails about requests being available, but you only need to schedule one appointment. Library staff will put all available requests into your bag.

You’ll be able to check out your requested items and place them on a table in the lobby or at the front of the library. When you arrive, look for the Books on the Go bag with your name on it. These items will already be checked out to you. Watch this video to learn more about the Books on the Go ordering process.

“Book Bundles to go” also lets you pick up books for your kids without having to pick them yourselves! After you fill out the form here, Cameron Village Regional Library librarians will choose a total of 10 board books, picture books, and beginning readers for your child.

The form takes about 30 seconds to fill out, and then all you’ll have to do is show up for your pick up time.

Interested in proctoring?

Cameron Village Regional Library, along with the rest of WCPL is suspending one-on-one services for the foreseeable future.

That includes their exam proctoring services that used to be available by appointment Monday – Saturday.

Looking for a conference room?

Similar to their proctoring situation, Cameron Village Regional Library and then all of WCPL is suspending library conference room reservations for the foreseeable future.

They assure guests that they will continue to monitor the situation and seek advice from public health officials to determine when to resume allowing reservations.
